Rain Barrel Workshop - Lake Crabtree Park, Morrisville, NC

Build your own rain barrel! Participants in this workshop will take home a fully functional 55-gallon rain barrel with installation kit. Workshop space is limited, so reserve your spot now. Tree Planting- Lake Wheeler Park

Tree Planting- Lake Wheeler Park

We will plant up to 400 tree seedlings at Simpkins Pond at Lake Wheeler to restore the ponds banks after invasive plant removal. Volunteers will plant bare root tree seedlings in a high density planting method (a lot of trees in a small space) and cage the trees to protect them from animals and make the planting more visible to humans. Tools and gloves will be provided.

Support Lake Crabtree-Attend Public Meeting

Attend the RDU Airport Authority Public Meeting to give you input on the plan to develop 136 acres of Lake Crabtree Park. Show your support fro preserving Lake Crabtree Park! The public meeting starts at 5:00 PM.

To sign up to provide a public comment, complete this form: https://forms.office.com/g/jqhvP6nCVJ. This form will be available before and during the meeting via a QR code that will be displayed until the meeting is adjourned. 

Individual speakers will each have three minutes to speak.  If a speaker is appearing on behalf of an identified group of speakers, that speaker will have ten minutes to speak.  Speakers may bring digital visual materials on a flash/thumb drive to display using an Authority-provided Windows OS computer with PowerPoint software.  There will also be an easel available to display materials.

Tree Seed Collection

Volunteers will collect native tree seeds! The native tree seeds we collect will be donated to Project Pando and Living Soil Tree Farm, local native tree nurseries. Once grown We Plant it Forward will receive some of these trees for our planting and give away programs to help increase our community's native tree canopy.
