How to Plant a Tree

There is a proper way to plant a tree so that it will thrive for decades to come. We offer you two proper tree planting videos: one is animated and shows how to plant a bare root tree seedling and the other shows you how to plant a containerized tree. We All Need Trees

This video introduces different ways humans use trees in their day-to-day lives, often without even knowing it. Through this activity, students are able to think critically about what different objects are made of and enable conversation about renewable resources and deeper thinking about one’s surroundings. This activity is intended for 3rd-5th grade students, but it can be adapted for lower and higher grades. Adopted from Project Learning Tree’s “We All Need Trees!” curriculum activity. Sammy the Salamander

This interactive story book video educates students about the significance of trees for salamanders and their habitat. This video provides students with information about the importance of trees for the environment, humans, and animals while applying critical thinking skills through answering interactive questions. Aspen’s Big idea

This interactive video introduces ideas revolving diversity in STEM, particularly women in STEM, for students. This interactive storybook is a way for students to think critically about the different ways they can connect and engage with the environment by answering interactive questions that engage them in personal ways. Water Theme

WATER CYCLE JEOPARDY

This interactive video adopts the jeopardy game to teach about the water cycle. This activity provides opportunity for teamwork and critical thinking, connecting students, generating discussion and creating a space for collaborative learning. This is intended for 7-8th grade science classes and falls under the seventh grade core science curriculum for Wake County: “Understand how the cycling of matter (water and gases) in and out of the atmosphere relates to Earth’s atmosphere, weather and climate and the effects of the atmosphere on humans.” This activity can be adapted for lower and upper grades.
